Voting: Where should I register?

College students can choose to register either in their hometown or where they're attending school!

(You can only be registered and vote in one place.)

You might choose where to register based on:

  • what issues are on the ballot in each location
  • when the registration deadlines are
  • how easy it is to get to the voting location (if voting in person)

Find out more here.

Register in Massachusetts

If you're attending Berklee, you're eligible to vote in Massachusetts. Find information here!

Anyone can request a vote-by-mail ballot in Massachusetts, even if you'll be in the state on election day.

Register in another state or territory

You might want to register to vote in your hometown (which means you'll probably want to request an absentee ballot, too). Requirements for registration vary widely by state, so make sure to look them up here

Examples of what you might need for either your registration or your absentee ballot:

  • Driver's license or state ID number
  • Social security number
  • Notarization (Two notaries work in the Stan Getz Library! Come to the library, or email askalibrarian@berklee.edu to get in touch!)
  • Witnesses 18 years of age or older
  • Photocopy of ID or other document
