The pieces presented in this guide are meant to introduce a Boston Conservatory student who has already gone through the music history prerequisites to music outside the curriculum along with other resources at the Albert Alphin Library. Berklee College of Music students can also look through the pieces presented to learn about pieces from well-known and not-so-well-known composers. I hope you enjoy! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
This guide is specifically about chamber classical music at the Albert Alphin Library divided by instrument combination.
This is by no means a comprehensive look at either chamber music or what the Albert Alphin Library has to offer - rather, it is a jumping-off point to inspire some new listening or to encourage you to practice a new piece.
The composers and pieces chosen in this guide are either a lesser-known piece from a well-known composer or a well-known piece from a lesser-known composer. This is to introduce new pieces into your repertoire, whether from a composer you know and like or a composer you've never heard before. Ideally, listeners and performers alike will discover something new. If you are a Boston Conservatory or Berklee College of Music student, you can even check these pieces out from the Albert Alphin Library to inform your own practice.
