Jazz and Gender Justice: IAWM Journal

A companion research guide for the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice

IAWM Journal

Berklee College of Music Library is happy to provide access to the Journal of the International Alliance of Women in Music.

According to their website, the IAWM "is an international membership organization of women and men dedicated to fostering and encouraging the activities of women in music, particularly in the areas of musical activity such as composing, performing, and research in which gender discrimination is an historic and ongoing concern. IAWM members engage in efforts to increase the programming of music by female composers, to combat discrimination against female musicians, including as symphony orchestra members, and to include accounts of the contributions of women musicians in university music curricula and textbooks. IAWM activities ensure that the progress women have made in every aspect of musical life will continue to flourish and multiply.

The Journal of the IAWM is "published twice a year. The Journal includes articles about women musicians, both contemporary and historic; interviews; reports on major conferences, congresses, and festivals; information on current research; members’ news; IAWM news; and reviews of books, concerts, CDs, and scores.
